Maintenance & Troubleshooting of the PERGOLUX Awning

Caring for Your PERGOLUX Awning

It's best to retract your awning whenever it's not actively in use β€” overnight, when you're heading out, or any time it'll be left unattended.

The same goes for harsh weather: bringing it in ahead of strong wind, heavy rain, storms, or freezing conditions helps keep it in good shape. If it does get caught in the rain, extending it again once the weather clears β€” so it can air dry rather than sitting damp in the cassette β€” is a great habit to keep up.

For cleaning, a damp cloth is all that's needed for both the fabric and the frame. Harsh chemicals, solvents, abrasive pads, and pressurized hoses are best avoided.

For safety, check all fixings and mounting brackets every 3 months, and tighten any that have loosened.

Troubleshooting Your Awning

Why did the motor stop working after using it a few times in a row?

This is completely normal, not a fault β€” the motor has built-in thermal overheat protection and is limited to two full open/close cycles within any 30-minute window.

The Fix: Simply let the motor rest for 30 minutes. After this brief cooldown period, it will resume normal operation. If you ever experience a power outage, you can always use the included hand crank to manually open or close your awning.

The awning doesn't respond to the remote at all β€” what should I check?

  1. Check the plug, socket, and cable connections for power.
  2. Rule out thermal protection (see above) β€” wait 30 minutes if it's been cycled recently.
  3. Re-pair the remote following the control box instructions.
  4. Try the manual crank β€” if that works, the issue is electrical or with the remote, not mechanical.

The front bar isn't level when the awning is fully extended β€” how do I fix it?

First, check that the wall brackets are positioned close enough to each end of the frame for balanced support. Then take a look at the awning's manual, in the installation section regarding the "angle of inclination" (tilt angle) β€” you can fix the unevenness by raising the lower side of the front bar until it aligns horizontally with the higher side.

I can't adjust the awning's tilt angle β€” what should I try?

This is usually because the adjustment bolts aren't loose enough, or the arms are under tension. Roll the awning out to fully or half-open (or about 50 cm from the wall) to relieve the tension, then try adjusting again. If it still won't move, contact your retailer or our customer support team.

Why does the awning move itself after I use the manual crank?

This happens when the motor's electronic controls try to correct a position set manually. Press Stop on the remote before using the hand crank, and press it again once the awning has fully opened or closed, so the motor doesn't try to auto-correct afterward.
